It’s okay to see Sting strumming his bass, singing those lyrics in that kind-of-raspy voice. I want you to have that mental picture as you read back over the lyrics from that 1983 Grammy-award winning song.
Got it?
Now. In your mind, flicker across the twilight, star-and-sun-studded expanse of this immense universe to that startlingly brilliant Light oasis we instantly recognize as Heaven. God’s bridge. Command Central.
Got that? Imagine the scene: Creator God, before Whose very presence archangels such as Michael and Gabriel bow – those infinitely powerful spirit-warriors whose diamond-shard, Light-splitting, Time-slicing command presence makes every other spirit servant in Heaven’s vast gathering of angels instantly silent in respectful awe.
Yeah. “That” God.
Scroll back up and reread those lyrics as if it’s Sovereign God saying them to and about every one of us, including the two whose pictures appear above. Do it now; go back up and read them again, only instead of hearing Sting’s voice . . .
I know the seeming choices we must make in November are unsavory ones. To say both major party candidates have baggage is like looking at a Saturn V rocket booster and saying, “Well, that’s large.”
God’s seen naked avarice and vile corruption before. The Sovereign Lord has dealt with raging egos and soulless aggressors chasing power and gimmes at any cost before. Nothing escapes God’s notice.
Nothing.
Rest assured He knows Donald, Hillary and you and I. He not only has a perfect, accurate record of what we’ve all done–He knows why we did it. He was present in the Trump University backrooms just as He was observing everything taking place in Benghazi. He knows every detail of Donald’s liaisons as intimately as He does the origin and content of every one of Hillary’s emails.

You can’t erase God’s memory.
I encourage you, my friend. It’s okay to be concerned enough to spend time informing yourself as to the real issues surrounding our national choices and future. Yet despair is something no Christian has any business allowing to grow inside.
God’s got this thing, no matter how desperate and emergent things may look. Go back and check out the Bible’s records of how He made what was humanly impossible happen anyway.
“Think God’s gonna just sweep in there and make it all spiffy again? That it?”
I don’t presume to anticipate what God does. He’s managed to surprise me every time. Occasionally, He’s been known to give people exactly what they’d been hollering they wanted, long enough for them to get a handle on why He’d been telling them ‘NO’ for so long. You’ll have to admit: America right now isn’t winning any merit badges in the Obeying God department.
But I know this: God’s people can depend on Him to take their part. Every time. “If My people” still works.
You keep praying, keep living your life before all those who love to sneer. Keep serving where you are, loving people who are going out of their way to be unlovable.
Be strong and of good courage!
Big Daddy is definitely watching.
