Breathing is as natural as, well, as breathing.
None of us give it a thought unless it stops for some reason. Then things get serious. Real.
Breath is another of those unappreciated but oh-so-necessary gifts from God. “God formed man out of dirt from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life. The man became alive–a living soul!” (Genesis 2:7)
God’s cool. Otherwise bright individuals created by Him, using several times a minute the very breathing and vascular mechanisms He designed to breathe the breath He gave us, say with every breath that God doesn’t exist and that He never created any of it. At first it likely saddened Him that it would happen so quickly. Now I think God in infinite patience is mildly amused and simply waits as a good and wise parent will.
Those who want to obey will. Those who find any excuse and work so desperately to disobey and justify their disobedience will. His promises are all in place and everyone’s invited. We’re the product of our own choices. That we cast widely about looking to blame anything or anybody else – even God – only reveals our glaring immaturity. God’s cool. God knows.
This was waiting in my inbox this morning and I felt it a powerful enough message to pass on to you. Being still wide-eyed at the literary possibilities available through emerging technology, I struggle to correctly use devices and techniques with which my grandchildren are adept and eye me with pity.
I mention that so if this doesn’t work right as I’ve planned the first time, you’ll have compassion on me and wait ’til I get it right. By now you know anything I include in any 2nd Cup is worth it.
One of my daily resources for personal encouragement is Mountain Wings. The site, www.mountainwings.com, has dozens of great little movies such as the one I’m sharing with you.
This one is called, “Breath.” Simply click below to watch it: http://www.cryofthespirit.com/breath.html
I’m thinking you’ll want to go back and watch it two or three times to properly absorb its impact. I didn’t catch it all the first time, either.
2nd Cup of Coffee exists to lift, encourage, edify and challenge to personal and spiritual excellence. It’s why I invest time, effort and creative thought in you. My goal is that by reading – taking mental sips of hot, freshly-ground thought and opinion – I’ll have given you something to lighten the load on your spirit today. That I’ll have written something odd or goofy or mysterious or engaging enough to make you think.
If I manage to pull that off, consider suggesting this blog to thinking friends. There’s always plenty of fresh-brewed, hot joe to go around – as long as you don’t mind the mismatched collection of mugs from all sorts of places. Just pick your favorite and slide it over here. I’ll pour.
Hmmph? Can’t be the only reasons I write?
Well, no. There’s one more that’s been in place since the day I first began to put my thoughts, impressions and reflections out there for you.
I love you and I believe in you.
